New Beginnings

It's a new year..... WELL past the beginning of it, and of course as usual I'm WAY behind on keeping up to date with my blogging. So much has happened since my last post. I did not blog about getting engaged. So I shall do that now. Jacob and I had been dating for almost 3 years when he popped the question. We went camping over Memorial Day weekend (May 24th-27th) in Sequoia National Park. We were celebrating his 30th birthday, or so I thought. I knew his family was going to join us on Friday the 25th. What I did not know was that he had planned a proposal for Saturday the 26th and had arranged for my family to be up there as well. The entire weekend was crazy memorable. We drove into Sequoia National Park on Friday early afternoon, we went to check out General Sherman and all the other large redwoods, and it began to snow! We were SO not prepared for snow. We got to our campsite, set up our tent, attempted to start a fire that kept getting put out by the snow flurries. We went to bed, and woke up with snow on the ground! It wasn't cold enough to stick past morning, but it sure was cold. Jacob and I went for a drive up to a lookout point. Jacob, knowing me well, thought "she's probably thinking I might propose..." He was right, I was thinking "this would be the perfect place to propose, but you're going to end up disspointed, it's not going to happen, so just forget it....." He didn't propose. However, we drove to another lookout that looks out/down on the valley of trees. It was beautiful. It was this huge granite rock slab with the best view. Jacob said he had a poem he wrote that he would like to read to me. My back was bothering me, thanks to the car accident I was in just 2 days prior, that's a story in itself.... SO, I sat down on a rock, facing his best friend who was hiding in the trees. Now my mind is thinking, "oh my God, I think he's actually going to propose!" Thank God he wrote his prposal down, because I could not recite what he said to me. Of course I said yes, we kissed and hugged....and then, both of our families arrived to congratulate us! It was awesome =)
